University Partners
Investing In Student Opportunities
High school is the place where students put career options into focus. At WMAA, we help each student discover his or her skills and interests, and then translate that knowledge into a “what’s next” plan.
Many of our students choose some type of post-secondary education as their next step. Our university partners recognize and appreciate the quality of WMAA graduates, and provide services to support our students in their career exploration process. These partners choose to engage with us in various ways, all of which benefit our students:
- Internships. Some of our partners fund internships in which graduate assistants work at WMAA for part of the year. Our students benefit from additional classroom support, as well as contact with someone currently pursuing advanced teaching or research degree. The graduate assistants benefit by gaining classroom experience.
- College Credit. Several university partners offer college credits to WMAA students who successfully complete our engineering and aviation courses. These “free credits” can significantly reduce the cost of post-secondary education.
- Exposure. Other partners invest in our students by providing transportation to their campuses for “Experience Days.” This allows students to get a firsthand look at the campus, talk with students, and explore areas of interest.
We invite post-secondary educational institutions to contact us to discuss ways in which we can help students expand their horizons and leverage their high school experiences.
