In this course, students will evaluate the structure and function of the United States Government at the national, state, and local levels and the rights and responsibilities of citizens within that structure. The course covers the fundamental ideas, functions and processes which form the basis of the American political system. Areas to be addressed include power, authority, and government; foundations of American government; political participation and behavior; legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government; and the United States and the world.
