In this course, students will study the uniquely American voice as it is represented by all genres and styles throughout the history of America. Together, they will analyze the attitudes, perspectives and visions American authors, orators and poets have had about the world, from Native American legends through 21st Century technical writings. Students will have opportunities to both read and write in various contexts and styles, investigating and expressing a wide range of information and emotion. Through this focused study, students will develop many skills and strategies in the areas of literature, informational text, writing, speaking and listening and vocabulary.
