English Language Development

The English Language Development Course is designed to help students work towards achieving proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the English language. Students will receive authentic practice and instruction in the social language of English.
With a focus on developing fluency for multiple purposes through the use of theme based units and informational text, students will be exposed to a variety of texts to build background and students will produce writing for academic purposes. Students will work to increase their vocabulary in academic contexts, continue to develop their listening comprehension and increase their fluency by repeated practice of text designed to expose students to content specific topics.
