This Aviation History and Literature course is designed to expose students to the rich history of aviation while reinforcing and building the necessary reading, writing, and presentation skills needed to succeed in the field of aviation and beyond. This course will examine the early discovery and invention of flying machines while providing a sequential historical foundation of significant aviation-related milestones. Students will be expected to complete a biography and presentation highlighting the achievements and struggles of a famous aviation iconic figure. Students will also be required to correctly identify significant aviation iconic figures and their contribution to the aviation community, as well as correctly identify specific civilian and military aircraft. Finally, students in the Aviation History and Literature course will read several non-fiction and fictional aviation-related selections. This course will culminate with a student written ā€œIā€ research paper.
