Chris Williams Now in his fifth year at WMAA, Mr. Williams has transitioned from a traditional classroom to serve as our new Director of Teaching and Learning. In this capacity, Mr. Williams offers classroom support to each of our amazing teachers in the form of Professional Development opportunities and individualized instructional coaching. In addition to his formal role at WMAA, Mr. Williams also volunteers his time to lead the school’s early morning Weight Training Club.

Mr. Williams’ professional experience began with his teaching degree from Grand Valley State University in 2011. He graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English and a minor in Sociology. While at GVSU, Mr. Williams was named the Outstanding Student in Secondary Education for his student teaching in Grand Rapids Public Schools. Currently, Mr. Williams is continuing his education at GVSU through their Educational Leadership master’s program.

As part of his studies, Mr. Williams has had the opportunity to work in schools around the world, teaching in both the Netherlands and South Africa. He comes to West Michigan Aviation Academy with professional teaching experience from Union High School in Grand Rapids and Cartwright Public Schools in Phoenix, Arizona. Although he has enjoyed all of his unique teaching experiences, Mr. Williams is proud to have landed his career at West Michigan Aviation Academy. In his own words, “WMAA is a school that truly cares about all of its students. The culture amongst this staff is to support kids in any way possible, and I’m so glad to be a part of it.”
