Originally from Brighton, MI on the east side of the state, Mrs. Stanley has been living in the Grand Rapids area now for 7 years. She graduated magna cum laude from the Frederick Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University with her Bachelors of Arts degree in English, mathematics, and Spanish. While in college, she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and was honored with the Excellence-in-a-Discipline Award as selected by the College of Education faculty.
Mrs. Stanley has traveled and studied abroad in Costa Rica where she strengthened her language skills and backpacked the Costa Rican countryside. She has worked as a college writing consultant for three years, and has also volunteered with the Lake Michigan Writing Project. After college, Mrs. Stanley spent two years teaching in public schools in the metro-Grand Rapids area. Now, she is delighted to be joining the WMAA community and is looking forward to helping cultivate passion for learning.
In her spare time, Mrs. Stanley enjoys playing sand volleyball, going on hikes with her husband and Tamaskan dog Loki, and finding new books to curl up with and read.
