Mrs. O’Neill (formerly Miss Owens) has been teaching at West Michigan Aviation Academy since 2013. She has been involved in teaching science and supervising students taking online classes, and will continue teaching in the science department this year.
Mrs. O’Neill graduated summa cum laude from Cornerstone University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in integrated science and a minor in ESL for secondary education. She later added a Biology endorsement to her teaching certificate. While at Cornerstone, she played for four years on their women’s soccer team. She has previously taught in a private school, a local public school, and an alternative school. She has taught a wide variety of classes in the past, including Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Anatomy, Earth Science, 8th grade science, and an ESL class for Japanese students.
Along with her classroom teaching experience, Mrs. O’Neill has been a varsity girls soccer coach and a junior varsity boys soccer coach. Playing soccer and other sports, as well as doing other outdoor activities are an important part of life for her. She also enjoys trying out new restaurants locally in the Grand Rapids area, traveling around the United States and to other countries, volunteering for service projects, and doing DIY projects. She is excited to be a part of West Michigan Aviation Academy and to be able to work with the students attending WMAA.
