Ms. O’Brien graduated from Michigan State University in the spring of 2014 with a degree in Chemistry and an integrated science endorsement along with completing her secondary education program.
During her time at MSU, Ms. O’Brien had the opportunity to be an undergraduate research assistant under an accomplished chemist studying the application of alkali metals in different areas of research. She also received a scholarship, which allowed her the opportunity to intern for Dow Corning, a chemical company based out of Midland, Michigan. Along with expanding her experience in the chemical field, Ms. O’Brien continues her growth as an educator through professional development to best help her students grow as scientists and as individuals.
In her free time, Ms. O’Brien enjoys playing soccer, running, and cooking/baking. She also enjoys attending the MSU Football and Basketball games to cheer on her fellow Spartans.
Ms. O’Brien is very excited to be at WMAA for her second year of teaching. She looks forward to meeting and working with all of the students at WMAA and helping them gain an appreciation for science.
