This will be Ms. Maxwell’s third year teaching at WMAA and she is excited to work with English 10 and English 12. She will also be returning as the head coach for WMAA’s Cheer Club.
Ms. Maxwell grew up in Berlin, Germany and attended a bilingual German-American school. She speaks multiple languages fluently and was very involved in her school and community. Throughout her high school career, Ms. Maxwell traveled all around Europe, explored Dubai, and visited her family in the United States during the summer. After graduating high school, she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to pursue her undergraduate degree at Calvin College (now Calvin University).
Ms. Maxwell graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in English as a Second Language (ESL). While at Calvin, Ms. Maxwell served as a resident assistant in the dorms and was involved in many ensembles and organizations involving music, dance, cultural diversity, and community. Through these activities, Ms. Maxwell has found the perfect profession that combines all her skills and passions: teaching!
Ms. Maxwell strives to generate a positive learning environment in which her students can discover the beauty of the English language, find their voice, think and learn independently about the world around them, and grow in WMAA’s values of empathy, professionalism, respect, responsibility, and self-motivation.
