Greetings and welcome! I am a graduate of Ferris State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Social Studies Education. Currently, I am enrolled at Kent State University, working towards my Master of Geographic Information Science degree. While earning my bachelor’s degree, I worked as a Special Education Parapro at Pine River High School in my hometown of Tustin, Michigan. To finish my degree, I student taught 7th and 8th grade History in the Grand Rapids Public Schools system at C.A. Frost Environmental Science Middle High School. After graduating, I taught World History, Government, and Economics at McBain High School.
It was always a goal of mine to return to Grand Rapids, and eagerly accepted the position at West Michigan Aviation Academy, where I am in my third year. At WMAA I currently teach Government, Economics, US History and Human Geography; however, I have experience teaching just about every Social Studies course out there. As of the 2020-21 school year, I am also co-advisor for the Student Council and the GSA.
Growing up in Northern Michigan, I spent my free time outdoors: in the water, on a hiking trail, or hitting the links at the many golf courses. (Even though I played a lot, I never seemed to improve my score.) Since moving to Grand Rapids, I have enjoyed taking my 45 pound corgi, Radzi, on long walks with my fiance, as we are all getting in shape for our upcoming wedding. When not outside, I enjoy watching movies, and I am shamelessly addicted to reality tv, mostly 90 Day Fiance and the Real Housewives. In the COVID era, I have found solace in working in my yard, remodeling various rooms in my house, and reading books that I have put off for a LONG time. I am so incredibly happy to once again be to see my niece and nephew, Ben and Lucy, as being an uncle is the most fun job in the world!
