Mrs. Cox has been a teacher at West Michigan Aviation Academy since 2016! This year, Mrs. Cox will be teaching U.S. and World History. Beyond the classroom, she finds pure joy in coaching Cross Country and Track and encourages all students to participate in the great sport of running.
Mrs. Cox comes from a long line of teachers in her family. It was no surprise then, that after graduating from Hope College in 2011 with a BA in Political Science and Women’s Studies, she went back to school to become a teacher. In 2015, Mrs. Cox graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Social Studies Ed and a minor in Political Science.
While at Hope, she enjoyed the opportunity to study abroad in both Rwanda and Ghana where she was able to study, travel, and become immersed in each culture. Mrs. Cox also spent time in Kazakhstan teaching the English language to Russian-speaking students alongside her then fiancee. Each experience underscored the profound impact that education has on both grand and modest scales around the world. Mrs. Cox looks forward to imbue this perspective as she teaches her students in historical and critical thinking!
In her down time, Mrs. Cox absolutely loves spending time outdoors with her husband, son, and dog. Running, traveling, camping, gardening, and spending time with her family are also some of her favorite pastimes.
Mrs. Cox looks forward to traveling through history with her students to understand the deep patterns and intricacies that have shaped the world we know today!
